Communicated as of March 16, 2020 in relation to the current situation of the Coronavirus and its effects on visits and surgeries of the Hip Unit of ICATME – Hospital Universitari Dexeus.

Starting today, Monday the 16th and after the urgent meetings held over the weekend with the health authorities of the Hospital and the management of ICATME, it has been decided, acting with the greatest responsibility, to take the following measures, which will be subject to modifications as they change. the situation in the coming days:

  1. Reschedule surgeries until April 1. Cases of preferential or necessary assistance are maintained
  2. Limit non-urgent visits in the same period. Attendance is guaranteed for patients who come to the face-to-face visit in our center. Urgent cases will also be attended in person.

Last Monday, in the capital of Dubai Abi Dhabi, the advanced medical assistance plan for the citizens of that emirate state was presented to the Dubai Ministry of Health.

This fact highlights the expansive nature of knowledge that exists in the world about the whole group, always linked to evidence-based medicine but also excellence.

On September 19, 20 and 21 in the city of Gant, in Belgium, Dr. Charlemagne Cardenas of the Hip Unit of ICATME, taught together with Dr. Cronin and Sarantos, from the United Kingdom, and Dr. Wade Gofton from Canada, the training course in the SUPERPATH technique for the placement of hip prostheses; With this revolutionary technique it is possible to implant a hip prosthesis if you cut any muscle or resect any ligament, incredibly improving recovery times.

With this course there are already more than 190 surgeons around the world who have received theoretical and practical training from Dr. Cardenas, who was the first in Spain to perform this technique and participates as a director in the courses that are taught each year in Gant, Rotterdam and Madrid.
