Dr Ribas has participated in the VII Estonian Orthopedic Congress, held on 14, 15 and 16 November in the city of Viljandi.

After finishing the congress, Dr Ribas himself commented: “It has been an honor to be able to participate together with distinguished teachers from all over Europe (G. Macheras, N. Reina, C. Lohmann or K. Holen). Professor Katre Masaalu, current president of the “Estonian Association of Traumatology and Orthopedics (ETOS), and Professor A. Mäarson for their love, enthusiasm and great sense of organization. No wonder Estonia has become the 2.0 country par excellence. From here I wish you, as one day, professor Miguel Cabanela told me, never stop your enthusiasm! “.

In addition to the affectionate words of Dr Ribas, we want to record some of the conferences that have been given at this congress.

For example, Professor Nicolás Reina (HU Toulouse) presented a very brilliant presentation on the fundamentals of bone reconstruction in the treatment of avascular necrosis of the femoral head. It will undoubtedly follow in the footsteps of Ficat, Puget and Chirón.

We also want to highlight the words of Professor Lohman (HU Magdeburg) who said: “Do not use local anesthetics in the aspiration of synovial fluid in the hip, because its effect is bactericidal and can influence the detection of bacteria. After the time that Dr Ribas was a fellow of Professor Klaus Steinbrink at the Endoklinil in Hamburg, “We must still insist on something that science had already taught us more than 20 years ago” – Dr Ribas.

For many years we have put different names (Athletic Pubalgia, Sports Hernia, …) to the same concept. After the historic meeting in Doha (Doha Agreement, BJSM-2015), we all agreed to simply call it “Groin Pain”, translated “Inguinal Pain”, to which we will add “related to …” and its classification in three basic groups: pubic ring, hip and others.

To understand hip pain, it is basic in the work of Brian Kelly of the Hospital School for Special Surgery in New York, and to know how to correlate: “The concept of the 4 layers or levels” (“The Layers Concept”).
